The Ohio Machine opened up their 2013 season hosting the Denver Outlaws. In a hard-fought game, the Outlaws out-lasted the Machine to secure their second victory of the season with a 13-8 victory.
The Outlaws, who scored twenty-one goals in week one, were held to thirteen by the Machine defense lead by returning-starting goalkeeper, Stefan Schroder. Even with the return of Brendan Mundorf, the Machine defense was able to hold the Outlaws’ power-house offense to a respectable thirteen goals.
Goalkeeper of the Outlaws, Jesse Schwartzman, had a rebound game as well. He allowed an uncharacteristic fifteen goals to the Charlotte Hounds in their opening game. He allowed just eight goals to a potent Machine offense.
Jeff Ledwick, the first overall pick in the most previous supplemental draft, made his MLL debut in this game as well. He, along with Eric O’Brien, midfielder for the Machine, lead the offense with two goals apiece. Billy Eisenreich, Chazz Woodson, Steele Stanwick, and Jim Connolly each had a goal on the game as well.
Denver began the game hot going up five to one over the hosting Machine. The Machine fought back with three more goals before the half time intermission. The Outlaws wouldn’t be contained in the second half as they exploded for eight more goals compared to the Machine’s five.
The Denver Outlaws look to start the season out three and zero with their third straight road game to start the season as they visit the zero and two Boston Cannons in Boston. The Ohio Machine will travel to play the powerful Chesapeake Bayhawks.
