According to reports from IL Indoor, the Philaelphia Wings have signed Ryan Ward. Ward, a ten year NLL veteran, had been playing with the Edmonton Rush but he has not been at training camp as an unrestricted free agent, creating speculation that he might not return to the club.
The Rush had offered Ward a contract according to IL Indoor and ILWT sources this past weekend at training camp, but they could never come to terms. The Wings have had plenty of no shows at their own camp with Kevin Buchanan, Rob Pannell, Paul Rabil and others not showing. Kevin Crowley is also yet to sign for 2014 with the team.
Ward was originally drafted by the Wings in 2004 but has gone on to play with Minnesota and Edmonton and he has missed just five games in his entire ten year career. Ward has 168 points all time and will be a good replacement for Drew Westervelt who was traded to Colorado.
The Wings also added Tracey Kelusky as a free agent while Crowley and trade acquisition Luke Wiles remain unsigned. The Crowley situation is a completely different story, but with Ward now in the mix, the Wings have several options on offense.
