Quinn Powless is a name that lacrosse fans became familiar with this past summer when he led the Six Nations Arrows to a Minto Cup. Powless’ stock rose heading into the draft, and he ended up being a first round pick to the New England Black Wolves.
“It felt unbelievable to be first round draft pick I wasn’t expecting to go that high in the draft I was really surprised” Powless told us. “I can’t wait to join the team its a great opportunity for me and a dream of mine to play”
The righty forward was the Black Wolves second pick after they traded for a second first rounder. He adds depth to a right side that is shaping up in New England to be formidable.
“I hope I can get into the lineup and be part of the team and get the opportunity to play and do whatever I can top help the team be successful.”
Powless scored 26 goals with 48 assists in the regular season but notched up his game in the Jr A playoffs with 22 goals and 42 assists in 19 games. His performance in the playoffs no doubt gained him attention by NLL teams.
“I had a good season with the Arrows overall as a team we all played good and stepped up when we had to and I’m sure it helped me because I wasn’t expecting to go that high in the draft”
A great passer and scorer, Powless no doubt will contribute and be an impact player on the ‘Wolves in their inaugural season.
“It feels amazing I can’t wait and it’s always been a dream of mine. Can’t wait to start!”
