The Can-Am finals are set, and for the second straight season the Newtown Golden Eagles will take on the Onondaga Redhawks.Both teams are full of professional level players. The Golden Eagles host former Kentucky Stickhorses Jake Davis, Josh Kacprzak and Ryan Macaizsek. Former NLLer Linden Stevens is also on the roster.
For the Redhawks, Brett Bucktooth of the Vancouver Stealth and Scott Johnston of the Toronto Rock are on the club. Former Stickhorse Dwayne Porter is on the roster as well as goaltender Spencer Lyons.
Porter, along with AJ Bucktooth, lead the Redhawks with 12 playoff points each. Preston Lay leads the Golden Eagles with nine points. Last round the Redhawks defeated the Tuscanora Tomhawks while the Eagles topped the Six Nations Slash to advance.
These were by far the two best teams in the league in the regular season. Newtown went 15-1 while the Redhawks went 13-3. Newtown led the league with 245 goals scored.
The winner of the finals will advance to play in the Presidents Cup, the championship for Sr B. They will play the winners of the OLA Sr B league along with the winners of the TNSLL and the QSLL.
The schedule for the CanAm finals will be announced later in the week. Just last night the Redhawks defeated the Tomahawks.
