The Toronto Rock picked up their first win of the season last night as they took to the road in Calgary. Toronto won 13-11 and were led by the three goal performance from Kasey Biernes.
Colin Doyle picked up five assists in the Toronto victory while Josh Sanderson and Stephan LeBlanc had two goals each. Garrett Billings also picked up four assists while goaltender Nick Rose made 44 saves and is now 6-1 in his career as a starting goalie.
Shawn Evans scored three times for the Roughnecks while Geoff Snider had a dominant game with 16 loose balls to lead both teams. Curtis Dickson had two goals while Daryl Veltman picked up four assists.
Mike Poulin made 35 saves in the loss facing 48 shots. Calgary scored four goals in the fourth, their most in any quarter while Toronto controlled the pace for most of the game.
Over 11,000 fans were in attendance for the Calgary opener. They shot 56 times compared to the 48 shots from Toronto while Calgary also won 75% of all faceoffs in the game.
Toronto faces the Edmonton Rush today in their Alberta road trip to open their season in 2013.
