The Calgary Roughnecks today announced the team has re-signed forwards Daryl Veltman and Brett Baron to one-year contracts and agreed to one-year terms with three free agents: forward Connor Goodwin, goaltender Ryan McBride and defender Patrick O’Meara.
Veltman, 29, finished last season in the top five in team scoring with 20 goals and 41 assists for 61 points in 18 games. Acquired by Calgary in a trade with the Boston Blazers in 2010, the Georgetown, Ontario, native has spent four seasons with the Roughnecks, recording 208 points (66 goals, 142 assists) over 60 games.
Baron, a native of Calgary, Alberta, was a practice roster player during the 2014 NLL campaign. The 22-year-old forward recently finished his first season with the Langley Thunder, notching nine goals and adding 24 assists for 33 points in 17 games in his WLA debut.
Goodwin, 21, started the 2014 season with the Port Coquitlam Saints of the BCJALL before being acquired by the RMLL’s Junior A Mountaineers. The New Westminster, British Columbia, product finished the 2014 campaign with 63 points, including 31 goals, in 18 games played with the Mountaineers and Saints.
O’Meara, 24, tallied four goals and 14 points over 18 games with the WLA’s Maple Ridge Burrards last season. The 6-5, 210-pound, defender from Coquitlam, British Columbia has recorded 36 career WLA points (12 goals, 24 assists) over three seasons with the Burrards (2012-14) and one season with the Langley Thunder (2010).
McBride, a 22-year-old goaltender from Calgary, Alberta, suited up for 11 games with the RMLL’s Rockyview Knights during the 2014 Senior B season.
