The Calgary Roughnecks announced today that they have signed Free Agent Jeff Moleski to a one year deal.
The 32-year-old defender has spent the last four seasons with the Vancouver Stealth (formerly known as the Washington Stealth). Moleski played with the Roughnecks from 2005 until 2010 before being traded to the Stealth for a first round draft pick.
“It’s extremely exciting to have Jeff back in the Calgary Roughnecks family,” said Roughnecks General Manager, Alternate Governor and Director, Business Operations Mike Board. “He is a true competitor who brings skill, toughness and a determination to win to our team. His passion, work ethic and leadership qualities will unquestionably bolster our back end.
“We look forward to Jeff once again donning the Roughneck colors and being a big part of our team on and off the floor.”
The Prince George, BC native has played in the NLL for a total of 10 seasons and captured the Champions Cup with the Roughnecks in 2009 and the Washington Stealth in 2010.
“Jeff will play a major role on the defensive side of the ball. He can play in all key situations and has great transitional skills,” said head coach Curt Malaswsky. “The thing we are really excited about is his great ability to shut down other teams top offensive players.
“When you think of Jeff Moleski two things jump out at you: one his unrivalled character and two; his championship pedigree. Jeff knows what it takes to have team success in the NLL. The bigger the game the better he plays. He has the innate ability to raise everyone’s compete level, work ethic and sheer drive. Bottom line, Jeff is a warrior.
“The team and organization is very fortunate to have Jeff back with the Roughnecks. He will pay dividends on and off the floor.”
Over his career, the NLL veteran, has appeared in 145 regular season games and accumulated 105 points (39 goals, 66 assists), while collecting 753 loose balls.
