Roughnecks Take First Victory of 2015

Calgary took down Vancouver in a 16-13 game Saturday night. The Roughnecks saw big games from both Curtis Dickson and Dane Dobbie. Dickson had nine points (7 G, 2 A). After scoring two goals in each of the second and third quarters he came out scoring three goals to start the fourth. Dobbie had three goals, two of which came in the fourth and was tied for team high with four assists.

Shawn Evans had four points and two goals while Daryl Veltman had five points. In net Frankie Scigliano made 36 saves with 24 of them coming in the second half. For the Stealth they came close to getting a nice win over the struggling Roughnecks but just fell short. Forward Rhys Dutch had eight points (4 G, 4A). Corey Small had seven points (4 G, 3 A). He has really looked like a great pick up for the team after coming over from the Rush.

Johnny Powless had another strong game with one goal and five assists.  He and Small give the Stealth a strong left side on offence. Tyler Digby rounded out the Stealth top scorers with one goal and three assists while Goaltender Tyler Richards made 41 saves. After both teams traded off two goals apiece in the third Vancouver just came up a bit short in the fourth being outscored seven to five.

The Roughnecks scored five power play goals on the night that helped in getting them the win as they look to get back on track in the West Division.

On February 28 Vancouver will be home vs. the Minnesota Swarm while Calgary will go on the road to face the team the beat them in last year’s NLL championship in the Rochester Knighthawks at the Blue Cross Arena.
