Roundtable: Best Team in the NLL?

Some of our NLL analysts sat down for a good old fashioned debate on the best team in the National Lacrosse League. Today’s debate features Scott Arnold, Rocco Granato and Jack Goods.

Granato: This comes down to two teams right know and a third just waiting to ambush.  I see Washington being the team to beat right now, especially after what I saw this past weekend.  They took advantage of an injury riddled team.  Richards is showing his 2010 championship form, and players such as Duch, Ratcliff, Iannucci and McMichael seem to making passes with their eyes closed as they know just when to thread the needle.  But watch out for the Roughneck ambush as they face Washington twice by April 6th

Goods: I think it really comes down to two teams right now, and although they have struggled at points against Buffalo I think its hard to say that Toronto isn’t the best team in the league right now. Not only can they match up player-to-player, but its a group that’s become very accustomed to playing together. With veterans who have been there before, this is a team that could really make a run in the playoffs. When Nick Rose is on his game, he’s one of the best in the league.Even though I have felt good about Washington for a good portion of the season, I just don’t see them on the same level as the Rock just yet.

Arnold: The Washington Stealth are by far the best team in the league this year; they have so much offensive depth. Athan Iannucci is the best player in the league and with the supporting cast of Drew Bucktooth, Lewis RatCliff, Rhys Duch, Kyle Buchanan and Cliff Smith, they are going to be tough to stop down the stretch.  Bobby Snider is a beast on the faceoffs and unless he’s up against his brother Geoff, he’s almost impossible to stop in the faceoff circle.  Mitch McMichael has been playing amazing and goalie Tyler Richards can win a game all by himself.  I don’t see any team stopping the Washington Stealth; they are a powerhouse!
