Rush and Mammoth Battle in Potential Playoff Preview

Matthews Rush Mammoth

The fine-tuning continues for the Edmonton Rush and the Colorado Mammoth as they square off at The Pepsi Center in Denver on Saturday night in what may possibly be a preview of the Western Division Final.

Coach Derek Keenan would like to see his team put forth the same effort as they did last week when the pounded the Minnesota Swarm 16-2 at the Xcel Energy Center. The Rush played a solid game even though the Swarm managed five fourth quarter goals past backup Tyler Carlson.

Expect Aaron Bold to start for Edmonton. How much of the game he actually will play depends on coach Keenan. If Keenan feels Bold is playing on top of his game and has a good work load, he may pull him in favor of backup Carlson to not Risk injury to his starter.

Keep in mind that the Rush still have a chance to finish first overall in the NLL if the stars align properly. They need to win their game and see Toronto lose and Rochester win in order for that to happen.

Colorado on the other hand know that they will host the West Division semi-final against either the Calgary Roughnecks or the Vancouver Stealth, depending on the outcome of this weekends games. They are looking to win their fifth home game in a row, which would make it their longest home winning streak since 2007. The win would also give the Mammoth 10 for the season. That would be the fifth time in franchise history Colorado has won 10 or more games in a season.

Even though it’s the final game of the regular season for both teams you can expect it to be a spirited affair, as they both want to set the tone going in to the playoffs and possibly face each other in the West Division Final to represent the West in The Champions Cup.

Game time is 7pm MDT at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
