Rush Extend Lafontaine and Sorichetti

Edmonton Rush General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan announced today that the club has signed transition players Adrian Sorichetti and John Lafontaine to three-year contracts starting with the 2014 National Lacrosse League season.

Sorichetti will be entering his second season with the Rush while Lafontaine begins his fifth campaign in the black and silver.

“I am very happy to have both Adrian and John signed for 2014 and beyond as they figure to be key players for the Rush now and in the future,” said Keenan. “They both have a great deal of athleticism and skill which make them very valuable to our team at both ends of the floor.”

“I’m excited to see what is ahead for both players as they have bright futures with great opportunities coming their way.”

Sorichetti was Edmonton’s second-round pick (11th overall) in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft and appeared in four games last season picking up five points.

The Whitby, Ontario, product, who played collegiate lacrosse at Hofstra University, had a breakout performance on March 21st as he notched a hat trick against the Buffalo Bandits in just his second pro game. Sorichetti, who now resides in Westlake Village, California, also collected four loose balls and one forced turnover in action last season.

Lafontaine, who is also from Whitby, racked up two goals and five assists for seven points last season. He also added a goal and an assist in the Rush’s lone playoff victory. The six-foot-two, 205 pounder, played in all 18 regular-season games in 2014, and has appeared in every regular-season and playoff game for the Rush over the past three years.

Through 61 career regular-season games, Lafontaine, who was Edmonton’s third-round pick (28th overall) in the 2010 draft, has totaled 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points along with 128 loose balls and 37 forced turnovers.
