With only a few games left before the playoffs, the Victoria Shamrocks will take on the Langley Thunder tonight in Western Lacrosse Association action.
Both the Thunder and Shamrocks are coming off of losses; the Thunder fell to the New Westminster Salmonbellies and the Shamrocks to the Maple Ridge Burrards.
Victoria has the top power play in the league with two of the top three scorers in Corey Small and Jeff Shattler. Athan Iannucci is the tenth leading scorer in the league for the Thunder.
In the season series so far, the Thunder have beaten the Shamrocks once and lost to them once. This is their third and final meeting of the season.
The Shamrocks are four points behind the first place Thunder and two points behind the second place Adanacs. They are tied with the Salmonbellies and Burnaby Lakers with 16 points.
After this week, the Shamrocks have a home and home with the Nanaimo Timbermen and the Thunder face the Burrards and Lakers to close out their season.
Langley is 5-2 at home, where the game tonight is taking place. The Shamrocks are 3-4 on the road. The Thunder also have the best penalty kill in the league. Langley is fifth in the league in both special team categories.
