Shamrocks Take Command of Mann Cup

On Monday night Victoria and Six Nations faced off in game three of the Mann Cup. After two games the series was tied 1-1. So coming into game three both teams were looking to take control in this series.

So far in this series the Shamrocks had trailed early in every game but they were the one to strike first in game three as Jeff Shattler and Cory Conway scored to put the Shamrocks ahead 2-0. Kasey Beirnes would halt the Shamrocks early momentum as sniped a goal right into the top corner of the net to make the score 2-1. The Shamrocks offence would get going once again on a goal from Cory Conway who scored his second of the game. The Shamrocks would continue to roll as Mitch Jones and Karsen Leung would score along with Conway who finished his first period hat trick. At the end of one period of play the Shamrocks had a dominating 6-1 lead.

In the second period the Chiefs would get back in this game Steven Keogh scored to make it 6-2. The Shamrocks would answer to reinstate their five goal lead as Jeff Shattler scored his second goal of the game. The story in the second period was the goaltending as Evan Kirk made 18 saves to keep his team in this game while Matt Vinc held the Chiefs off the board making fifteen saves of his own. At the end of two periods of pay the score was 7-2.

The Shamrocks would extend their lead in the third as Scott Ranger scored just a minute into the period to put the Shamrocks ahead 8-2. Six Nations offence would wake up in the third as just a minute after the Shamrocks goal Cody Jamieson scored to make it 8-3. The Chiefs were not done their though as Roger Vyse and Steve Keogh would score just minutes later to make this an 8-5 game. Matt Vinc would pick up his game as he then shut down the Chiefs making sixteen saves in the period. With just a minute left in the game the Chiefs would pull their goalie and Kasey Beirnes scored on the advantage to make it 8-6 but that was as close as the Chiefs would get as Victoria walked away with the 8-6 victory. Game four in this series will take place Tuesday night.
