This weekend the 3-1 Toronto Shooting Stars face off against the win-less Barrie Blizzard. These two teams met last weekend with Toronto thoroughly dismantling the Blizzard and taking a 18-10 victory.
Expect Barrie to come into this game looking for revenge and also more motivated than ever to get their first win of the season. The Blizzard’s biggest problem in their first match up against Toronto was that they allowed Toronto to string goal streaks together as the Stars would score 3 plus goals consecutively three times during the game. The Blizzard need to be tighter on defense and need their goal tending to step up whether it is Scotty Komer or Derek Collins. Expect Collins to get the start though as he was able to hold his own and tried to salvage the last match up against the Stars for the Blizzard. On offense Caleb Wiles and Mike Teeter will be looked upon to carry the offensive load but they will need some secondary scoring help in order to open up the field.
For the Shooting Stars they need to use the same strategy they did last time against Barrie and score early and often. Barrie does not have the fire power to dig themselves out from a large deficit so if the Stars can go on scoring streaks again they will be able to take this game with ease. In between the pipes Angus Dinely has been phenomenal posting an 8.74 G.A.A and he will make it hard for Barrie to score in this game. On offense Aaron Grayson and Mack O’Brien will carry the load but expect Derek Hopcraft, Brad Levick and Joel Wasson Quigge to also get involved.
In the end the Stars will once again be too much for the Blizzard. With the way Dinely has been playing it will be tough for the top teams to score yet alone Barrie who’s offense is limited. Expect the Stars offense to spread the ball out and generate lots of scoring chances and crack Derek Collins early on route to another victory.
