Last night the Brampton Inferno took on the Toronto Shooting Stars in a pivotal match up that would see the winner move into a three way tie for first in the league.
The game was physical from the get go as both teams took offsetting minors but Brampton would take an extra minor putting Toronto on the power play where they would take a 1-0 lead. Ryan Campbell would answer back for the Inferno. Toronto would take control though with 4 consecutive goals in order to go up 5-1. In the second quarter the Stars would continue to build on their lead as Mack O’Brien scored to give the Stars a five goal lead. Brampton would respond though as they received two goals from Scott Tinning, a pair from Pat Saunders and one from John McClure in order to tie the game at 6-6 at half.
The two teams got physical in the second half as Angus Dinely took exception to getting run over by Brock Boyle sparking three other separate skirmishes. Toronto would take the lead on goals by Mack O’Brien and Connor Daly making the score 8-6.This would fire up Brampton as Coady Adamson would score a behind the back goal to bring Brampton to within 1.Toronto would respond as Jackson Gair and Clark Robinson would score 10 seconds later to extend Toronto’s lead to 10-7. Brampton would add two more before the quarter ended but Toronto would also get one more making the score 11-9 at the end of three.
In the fourth quarter both goalies would step up their game with both making eleven saves. Aaron Grayson though would seal the win for the Stars with two goals to make it 13-9. Brampton would add another marker but that was all she wrote as Toronto walked away with a 13-10 victory and into a tie for first place.
Aaron Grayson was the story here as he had three goals and three assists for six points on the night. While Pat Saunders led the Inferno in scoring with two goals and an assist.
Brampton will be back in action Saturday against the Barrie Blizzard. While Toronto will play Sunday afternoon.
