The Vancouver Stealth took a blow on Friday morning as their goaltender Tyler Richards announced via Twitter he would retire from lacrosse.

Richards led the Washington Stealth to an NLL title in 2010. He has spent his entire career with the Stealth since he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 draft.

The goalie has had an injury plagued past few seasons and that continued in 2015. He played in 14 games with a goals against average of 14.57. His career goals against average was 12.09 over eight seasons.

Richards was even better in the playoffs with an 11.05 average in postseason play. He made history this past season by scoring a goal during a game.

One of the best goalies in the game, it’s sad to see Richards have to give up his career. All the best to him in life after lacrosse.
