The Vancouver Stealth have announced the re-signing of veteran goaltender Matt Roik to a one-year contract, along with the signings of goaltender Cody Hagedorn and defenseman Kevin Neufeld to one-year contracts, all pending league approval. Roik is one of the longest serving goaltenders in the National Lacrosse League as he enters 14th season.
“We’re really happy to have Matt back with the Stealth,” said Stealth President and General Manager Doug Locker. “He’s a solid veteran presence who knows both the league and our team well.” The 34 year old has played in 190 career NLL games, which includes an NLL Champion’s Cup with the Stealth in 2010. “It’s a pleasure to come and play with these guys that have the same passion as you do,” said Roik. “To have that opportunity is quite humbling and I’ve been lucky to have made a lot of friendships and bonds with a lot of these guys over the years.” Cody Hagedorn will be competing with Roik for a goaltending spot in training camp.
“Cody impressed us with his play this past WLA season in Victoria and had an outstanding Mann Cup this past September,” said Locker. Neufeld played the last two seasons as a member of the Coquitlam Adanacs. “Kevin is a big strong defender that we feel is ready to challenge for a spot on our roster after two seasons in the WLA,” said Locker.
The Stealth will open what is shaping up to be an incredibly competitive training camp on November 22 at Langley Events Centre. The Stealth open up the season in Calgary on January 3 and will host the Toronto Rock on January 10 for the 2015 Home Opener at 7 p.m. PT at the LEC. Stealth season tickets and 3, 4 and 5 Game Packs are available now. Single game tickets go on sale Monday, November 3 at 10 a.m. PT.
