The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that the team has activated Stephen Keogh from the physically unable to perform list. The tenacious, hard-working forward was excited to be back on the active roster.
“It feels great to be activated and to be back playing,” said Keogh. “It’s always tough watching from the stands. I just hope I can do anything to help the team win.”
The 27-year-old Keogh is in his fourth season in the NLL and fourth with the Knighthawks. In 2014, he set career highs in goals (33), assists (38) and points (71) en route to Knighthawks Offensive MVP honors. His numbers were good enough to rank him second on the team in goals and third in points. He capped off the season by winning his third straight Champion’s Cups.
“He brings grittiness and keeps people in check,” said Head Coach Mike Hasen. “He makes lanes for his teammates and he finishes the opportunities he creates. We are looking forward to getting his complete game back in the lineup.”
Keogh has been a consistent force on the Knighthawks’ offense since being drafted second overall in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. In 44 regular season games, he has scored 72 goals and added 81 assists. Having Keogh back in the lineup gives the team and Assistant Coach Paul Day another option on the right side of the floor.
“He has great speed and is fearless,” said Day. “He can handle the ball and beat you outside or inside. He gets us more offensive possessions with loose balls.”
Keogh will return to action for the first time since winning his second straight Mann Cup this September with the Six Nations Chiefs.
“It’ll be awesome to be back in the lineup and battle alongside my Knighthawks teammates again this season,” said Keogh.
