As the season wages on the Tarheels of The University of North Carolina have landed themselves in a questionable state, with their record knotted up at 3-3. Their most recent loss coming at the hands of cross town rival Duke. The usual suspects played well, as can be expected, with Marcus Holman netting two goals and two assists, Bitter assisted twice and Snakey placed two in the back of the net as well. All that being said when a game is played in Tobacco Road the expectation is for a thriller, and this one lived up to the hype.
The first quarter ended with the score 4-3 in favor of Duke, however the play on both sides was extremely exciting. Throughout the second quarter Duke came roaring in netting four goals to the Heels one. Not to be outdone however the Tarheels rallied in the second half dropping the only three goals of the third quarter, to bring the score to 8-7. The fourth quarter started with Duke’s Lawson scoring off a Tripucka pass. The Tarheels again rallied as Emala scored on the man up advantage. However, the Tarheels were not to again have the ball, as the rest of the game fell to Duke netting two more goals to end the game.
Do not worry Heels fans there are some bright takeaways. Firstly the Heels held a decided advantage in turnovers, even though they could not convert on many of the opportunities. UNC did struggle on face-offs and especially on ground balls. Face-offs have been a problem for the Heels all year and the ground ball game could defiantly use some work.
