Taylor named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career-high 10 points at Furman Saturday, Lehigh men’s lacrosse senior Dan Taylor has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Monday. The award marks Taylor’s fourth in the last five weeks going back to 2014 when he ended the regular season by winning the award three straight times.

Overall, Taylor has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week six times in his career (one as a sophomore, four as a junior and now one as a senior). On Saturday, he tallied five goals and a career-high five assists for 10 points. He was a perfect 5-of-5 shooting, scoring on every shot he took.

Taylor had a hand in seven straight Lehigh goals bridging the second through fourth quarters then scored the game-tying goal with 6:50 remaining in the fourth quarter which evened the score at 11.Taylor also assisted on a big insurance goal with 1:47 remaining which made it 13-11. The Mountain Hawks went on to beat Furman, 14-11.

The Calgary, Alberta native now has 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) through two games this season; he currently stands second nationally in points per game while he leads the nation in that category among players who’ve played multiple games this season.

Saturday marked Taylor’s sixth game with seven or more points since the beginning of his junior campaign; the Mountain Hawks are 6-0 in those games. He now has 16-career hat tricks. Since the beginning of last season, Taylor has tallied 91 points (55 goals, 36 assists) in 19 games.

Taylor and the Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play next Saturday (Feb. 21) when they host Boston University at 1 p.m.
