Fall Ball season is here with Michigan State playing Albion yesterday, and there are some really good games in this year’s edition of college lacrosse in the fall.
What are some of the top games? Fall ball sees some great teams, some club teams and honestly, sometimes teams you never heard of. Which exhibition games are the best? Read on.
Princeton vs Virginia- Virginia- October 6th
As a part of the Play for Parkinson’s Tournament, the Virginia Cavaliers face the Princeton Tigers. Virginia is always a fun team to watch as a truly elite  college program and Princeton is one of the best historical teams in the NCAA.
Johns Hopkns vs Cornell- Maryland- October 7th
In the Boiardi Foundation Capital Lacrosse Classic, you will see the best Division One teams than any other time in fall ball. Cornell will have Rob Pannell back and Johns Hopkins is led by Wells Stanwick.
Notre Dame vs Navy- South Bend- October 13th
Notre Dame is a growing lacrosse school and they will be an ACC team in just a few years, joining the best lacrosse conference in the country. It will be huge to watch the progress of the Fighting Irish and see how big lax is in Indiana.
Maryland vs Denver- Washington- October 13th
Lacrosse in Washington state? That’s right, the Terps face the Pioneers in Washington. We don’t see a lot of lacrosse talk from the great Pacific Northwest outside of the Washington Stealth, so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this.
North Carolina vs Ohio State- Baltimore- October 14th
Ohio State wasn’t ranked last year, but they are always a tough team who has produced some great pro players. Meanwhile, North Carolina will try to become a consistent team for 2013, something they lacked in 2012.
Denver vs Denver Outlaws- Denver- October 20th
The Pioneers will face the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse in their annual game. The Outlaws have former Pioneers great Mark Matthews on their squad, so it will be fun to watch.
Lehigh vs Ohio State- San Francisco- October 21st
A lacrosse game in San Francisco? The last time lacrosse was in northern California was the San Jose Stealth and the San Francisco Dragons in the pro leagues. Can lacrosse be big in Cali? Lehigh and Ohio State will try to find out.
Navy vs UMBC- Philadelphia- October 20th
UMBC made some noise last season and they could be a good team in 2013. They will face the Navy Midshipman, who always put up a good fight.
Yale, UMass and Rutgers- Connecticut- October 14th
In a tournament in Connecticut hosted by Yale, the Bulldogs will face the UMass Minutmen and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Massachusetts finished as a disappointment in the playoffs last year, can they rebound?
Loyola vs Villanova- Baltimore- October 13th
Your champions, the Loyola Greyhounds, will face Villanova in Baltimore on October 13th in our first chance to see Loyola after their championship.
