Calgary has a (not so) new coach at the head of the realm and are coming off two of the best years for any team in the league. They have some of the strongest units in the league and are possibly the deepest team in camp. Tomorrow night they have a pre season game in Langley after a camp session last week.
The Roughnecks recently signed veteran right handed forward Kaleb Toth to a one year deal. Toth has been a staple with the Necks for years, but he is at the bottom of the depth chart for righty shooters. He might need to have a big game in Langley.
The Roughnecks are known as one of the best offensive clubs in the league, and you can see that just from looking at the right side alone. They have Scott Ranger, Curtis Dickson, Shawn Evans and rookie Joe Resetarits. All ahead of Toth, including rookies Matthew Dinsdale and Jackson Decker.
Those last three mentioned will be fighting for possibly the last spot on that side in the game against Colorado tomorrow. On the left you see Dane Dobbie, Jeff Shattler, Daryl Veltman and free agent signed Aaron Tackaberry.
The Necks have a strong transition core so we will see some good battles this Saturday. Kyle Dexter, Barclays Hickey, Myles Dennett, Dustin Kinnear and Brad Richardson are all fighting for about two spots on transition.
Goaltending will be interesting. They have Mike Poulin as their no doubt starter but what about their backup? They could go with Frankie Scigliano again but they have veterans Matt King and Matt Flindell there as well. Only one of them can make it, and who they play on Saturday will be telling.
Curtis Pridham and Matt Leveque will probably be battling for that last defensive spot, while Dayne Michaud could make it just for being a left handed defender.
Stay tuned for updates on the Calgary pre season game against Colorado tomorrow night in Langley.
