The Washington Stealth will inch closer towards finalizing their 2013 roster this weekend, as the squad travels to British Columbia for their third round of training camp.
The Stealth will hit the floor at the Langley Event Centre (LEC) Saturday and Sunday. Home of the Western Lacrosse Association’s Langley Thunder, the LEC turf will be familiar territory for Lewis Ratcliff, Brett Hickey and Athan Ianucci, all of whom helped lead the Thunder to a WLA championship this summer. Iannucci’s return to Langley will be highly anticipated as the accomplished scorer recently signed a one-year agreement with the Stealth on Wednesday.
Some local B.C. talent that will hope to perform well in their home province include draft picks Tyler Garrison and TJ Cowx, as well as recent free agent signees Nick Patterson and Mark Negrin. Current standouts among this group include 11th overall draft pick Garrison, who has been impressive at camp thus far. Patterson has several years of NLL experience as a net-minder for the Minnesota Swarm, he will compete with Kevin Croswell and Chris Seidel for the chance to backup projected starter Tyler Richards.
Recent signee Ben McCullough may have been picked up by the Stealth at their free agent camp, however like Patterson he has past pro lacrosse experience. McCullough was a previous member of the Buffalo Bandits who dressed for one game during the 2011 season. He spent last winter with the Brampton Inferno of the Canadian Lacrosse League, posting 15 points in 11 games. Mitch McMichael and Drew Snider are also products of the Stealth’s free-agent camp and will have a chance to prove their worth this weekend.
Stealth camp will return to Washington December 15-16, with final training camp taking place from December 29-30. Both will be held at Comcast Arena.
