Victoria looks to make statement against New Westminster

Tonight in the WLA the Victoria Shamrocks (1-0) take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies(1-0). The Shamrocks coming into this season were viewed as the team to beat and after a 10-6 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs in their first game there is little doubt that they are contenders. The Salmon Bellies won their first game against Nanaimo 15-12

The Shamrocks in this game will look to beat the Salmonbellies by using their over powering offense in order to break the Salmon Bellies will. In their first game the Shamrocks offense was a well oiled machine as Corey Conway has seven points on the night, Scott Ranger had three goals, and Corey Small had one goal and four assists. The Shamrocks appear to have everything going right for them as their off season acquisitions have so far provided the boost they need. The good news for the Shamrocks is that they are still waiting on NLL Goalie of the Year Matt Vinc to make his regular season debut. The Shamrocks need to do exactly what they did against Coquitlam and roll their offensive lines to create mismatches in order to create offense.

The Salmon Bellies looked good in their first game of the season. Goalie Neil Tyacke was the star though for the Salmon Bellies as he made 33 saves on the night. The Salmon Bellies offense was firing on all cylinders in their first game and were led by Alex Gajic with six points, Tom Johnson who had five points and  Jordan McBride who had six points. The Salmon Bellies will need all their offensive weapons against the Shamrock and will need to test Victoria’s goaltender early and try to make Victoria work from behind. Expect the Salmon Bellies to come out on fire but if they cannot score early they will begin to fade.

The Shamrocks will have their work cut out for them as the Salmon Bellies are a team that can win on any given night.  Expect the Shamrocks though to win this game due to their offensive depth as they will overwhelm the Salmon Bellies.
