Imagine being a Major League Baseball fan, and you just heard that Jeff Bagwell was coming back to play. What would your first reaction be? That’s probably similar to how we feel about Mark Millon being drafted to the Rochester Rattlers yesterday.
Millon is one of the greatest lacrosse players ever, in both Major League Lacrosse and the National Lacrosse League. He hasn’t played any pro lax since 2007, so it sure came as a shock when the 41 year old was drafted as the top pick in the Supplemental Draft yesterday.
He was one of the original MLL players, beginning his career in 2011. The UMass alum has over 300 career MLL points. Lax Magazine has even reported that Millon is indeed trying to play and has been “working out like crazy”. So he’s playing.
This almost makes you forget that Casey Powell was drafted to Chesapeake after announcing that he was retiring. But this whole Millon thing puts this on the back burner.
Is Millon going to play? Looks like it. But how effective will he be after not playing for six years?
