Will Pannell Ever Play In The NLL?

As the start of the NLL season approaches, the question in front of some of the teams, especially the Philadelphia Wings is how many American players will not be playing for their team in the NLL this season.

The reason for this, The FIL World  Lacrosse Championships this summer in Denver.

One big question is whether or not Rob Pannell will play in the NLL not just this year, but ever.  Pannell was the top draft choice in the 2012 Major League Lacrosse Colligiate Draft. He was selected by the New York Lizards.

Pannell was drafted in the sixth round (50th overall) by the Philadelphia Wings.  Many have said he has the attributes to make it in the NLL.  But with the roster sizes being cut to twenty-four players (20 active/4 practice squad) from previous seasons twenty-six (23/3) it makes it harder for a sixth round selection to make it.

Pannell who is obviously one of the best young talents to play the outdoor game is currently trying out for Team USA in the World Outdoor Lacrosse Championships to be played in Denver from July 10th  to July 19th.  Final roster will be decided in January, and I expect Pannell to be on the roster.

So will the Philadelphia Wings and their fans, or for that fact the fans of the NLL ever see Pannell play the indoor game.  For the 2014 season chances are slim, for 2015 and beyond, we will have to wait and see.
