As the WLA playoffs are set to begin here are the players to watch out for:
Cory Conway: Conway finished second in points this season with 87 points. The majority of Conway’s points came from his playmaking skills as he registered 67 assists. Conway can change a game in a heartbeat if he gets space as he is one of the best playmakers in the WLA and expect him to quarterback the high octane Victoria offense.
Corey Small: Small is the other half of Victoria’s dynamic duo and finished third in league scoring with 86 points. Small showed his versatility as he had 42 goals and 44 assists showing how balanced of a player he is. Small will need to continue to find the back of the net if Victoria hopes to get to the WLA final.
Dane Stevens: Stevens was the heart of the Lakers this season and he will be relied on to carry the load for the Lakers in the playoffs. Stevens notched 26 goals and 55 assists this season and will need to continue his great play against Victoria. Stevens will power the Lakers offense and hope to set up fellow team mate Scott Jones.
Dane Dobbie: The newest member of the Langley Thunder will be looked upon to help the Thunder’s offense in the playoffs. Dobbie was a force for Coquitlam on their run to the finals last year and will need to play the same way this year. Dobbie was a force this season as he had 29 goals and 33 assists and will look to help the Thunder raise the WLA championship once again.
Brodie MacDonald/ Nick Rose: Both these goalies have been amazing this year and both will need to be at the top of their game if the Thunder hope to win the WLA championship. MacDonald posted a 7.51 G.A.A while Rose posted a 7.52 G.A.A . These two will fight for the starting spot in Langley but MacDonald has the edge as he has been rock solid for the Thunder all season and was a big part of their first place finish.
Mark Matthews: Matthews is a player to watch despite only playing five games this season he had five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. Matthews ha an outstanding season in the NLL and he could give Langley a significant boost in the playoffs as he is a game changer. Expect Matthews to find the back of the net against Burnaby.
