Shamrocks, Thunder Lead Series

The WLA playoffs are under way and the Shamrocks and Langley both find themselves with 1-0 series leads.

The first game between the Thunder and the Adanacs was a story of three different games. The Thunder came out on fire in the first period as they outclassed the Adanacs and had a 7-2 lead after one period of play. In the second period the Adanacs came roaring back as they shutout the Thunder and scored six goals of their own and took an 8-7 lead. In the third period  The Thunder would dig deep to win the game as they scored three goals and shut out the Adanacs and won the game 10-8 and took a 1-0 series lead.

The Shamrocks came into the playoffs with something to prove after faltering in last year’s playoffs. The Lakers kicked off the scoring in this game as Robert Church continued his hot streak and gave the Lakers an early 1-0 lead. Scott Ranger would answer for the Shamrocks but Jackson Decker would restore the Lakers lead. The Shamrocks would proceed to take control of the period as Corey Small scored twice along with Blair Pinnock to give Victoria a 5-2 lead after one period. In the second period the two teams would trade goals back and forth until Brody Eastwood and Scott Ranger scored consecutively. At the end of two periods of play the Shamrocks led 9-4. The Lakers would continue to fight but the Shamrocks were able to answer the Lakers at every turn. The Shamrocks would win the game 12-8 and take the 1-0 lead.

Langley and Victoria lived up to the hype and dominated the first games of their series. It will be interesting to see how Couquitlam and Burnaby respond in game two.
