Brine Lacrosse Signs Brodie Merrill to Brine Team Elite

There is a new face on the defensive side of Brine Team Elite.

Brodie Merrill plays in both the National Lacrosse League for the Philadelphia Wings and for the Boston Cannons in Major League Lacrosse. The left-handed defenseman from Canada is 32 years old.

Merrill was a standout high school lacrosse player in Connecticut and was eventually elected a First-Team High School All-American. His athletic prowess earned him a spot at Georgetown University.

At Georgetown, Merrill worked his way to becoming an All-American yet again, this time for two years in a row, during his junior and senior seasons. His senior year, he won the prestigious Schmeisser Award, which is given to the best defensive player each year in college lacrosse.

Professionally, Merrill is equally accomplished. He was MLL Rookie of the Year in 2005 and eventually won the MLL Defensive Player of the Year award four years in a row. He is the all-time ground ball leader of the MLL, and even boasts one MLL championship with the Toronto Nationals.

Internationally, Merrill lead the Canadian national lacrosse team to a historic win at the World Lacrosse Championship in London, Ontario in 2006. He was named Best Defender and earned All-World honors.

Merrill says he looks forward to being a brand ambassador for Brine and continuing to promote his defense-first strategy in mainstream lacrosse.
