Germany Blog: Scrimmaging Latvia

Germany

The German National team camp started on July 1 at Colorado College where we have had two-a-days since. Being that I had an MLL game July 3 I was not able to make it out to Colorado until July 5. I landed that night where I was informed we scrimmaged BYU and pulled away with a 7-5 victory. My first day of practice on July 6 we had breakfast at 7 am and hit the field at 8 am-10 am. Post practice we had a team bonding trip to Pikes Peak where we drove up the mountains for almost an hour to have a beautiful view of Colorado.

That night we did a controlled situational scrimmage with the Latvia National team where we did Man Up/Man Down, Rides and Clears, as well as faceoffs. July 7 we started with another early practice from 8 am- 10 am followed by a nice long nap period which I think everyone took advantage of. That night we had a full game scrimmage with Latvia. We opened up slow but pulled it together to get a 9-4 victory.

On July 8 we started with a 10 am practice where we focused on situational drills preparing ourselves for Game 1. After we piled into our common room where we watched Germany take down Brazil in the World Cup semis. After the game we headed out onto the field for Session 2 but was cut short with rain.

On July 9 we completed our last preparations for the World Games with an hour walk through making sure we were all on the same page. Post practice we packed up our bags at Colorado College where we then headed to the Air Force Academy where we toured their athletic facilities. After we hopped back on the bus and headed to Denver to check in and relax in preparation for the Opening Ceremony tomorrow.
