MLL: 3 People to Watch

It’s Saturday, which means it’s time for more Major League Lacrosse!
Today there are 4 games, featuring: Cannons vs Bayhawks, Hounds vs Machine, Outlaws vs Lizards, and the Nationals vs Rattlers.

Most of the games start around 5:00pm EST (Nationals vs Rattlers at 5:30pm).
While you are watching the games tonight here are 3 people to keep your eye on tonight.

Lets start things off with an easy one…
Denver Outlaws attackman Brendan Mundorf.
Mundorf has been on fire lately, scoring a sock trick (6 goals) and 2 assists in last weeks game against the Rochester Rattlers.
Look for Mundorf to come out blazing!
If the Lizards can’t figure out a way to stop Mundorf, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a repeat position as the MLL Offensive Player of the Week.

Last week marked the first appearance of Steele Stanwick to the MLL and the Hounds roster.
I think a lot of people were expecting more out of the 2011 Tewaaraton Trophy winner, last week, then the 2 goals and 1 assists he put up.
Frankly these numbers did not surprise me much as this was Stanwick’s first time playing the Pro game, and while lacrosse is lacrosse, there are a lot of differences between the college game and the pro game.
Now that Stanwick has had a chance to get a game under his belt and get a little used to the speed of the pro game, that I expect him to have a hat trick.
I think a lot of people think Steele Stanwick will come in and carry the Hounds, but I personally don’t see that.
I see him more of an active part of the offense, but I don’t see him carrying a team for at least a couple of years.

Lastly I would like to talk about Chris Eck from the Boston Cannons.
No matter what level of lacrosse you are talking about, from youth to pros, there are 2 things that every coach will say are key to success, and those are Face Offs, and Ground Balls.
Eck is the Cannons only player to take face offs so far this season, and has won 120 of 200 face offs.
Chris also leads the league in ground balls with 53 and tops that off with 4 goals.
If Chris Eck can come out and put up another night of great numbers in the face off and ground ball department, then the Cannons will be on the right track for a win.
