Prout Impact on Knighthawks

Prior to the draft the three-time champion Rochester Knighthawks shipped 21 year old Johnny Powless, Joel McCready, 9th & 23rd selection in the 2014 draft to Vancouver for the 2nd (Jeremy Noble) and 11th overall in this years draft as well as a number one in 2015 and 2017.

Questions started to be asked as to who would take the place of the young star Johnny Powless.  That was partly answered when the Knighthawks traded the 11th overall to New England for Jordan Hall.  Hall returns to the Knighthawks after  spending the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Wings.  Hall has always been a fan favorite in Rochester even after his trade.  The Blue Cross Arena still had the large wall poster of Hall facing out into the street in his Hawks uniform during his time in Philadelphia.

Fast forward  six weeks after the draft and the Knighthawks sign Gavin Prout.  Prout took the 2014 season off after his release from the Mammoth.  In Prout the Knighthawks get the number six man all time in assists with 621, and eighth overall in points with 922, along with 301 goals in 184 games.

Prout has 9 appearances in the playoffs, a 2006 Championship, along with MVP honors when he had 4 goals and 3 assists.  Prout was the overall number one selection in 2001 Entry Draft by the New York Saints.  Prout also has seven All-Star Games appearances (2002, 2004-2009).

Prout is no starnger to Rochester.  From 2007-09 Prout played for the Rochester Rattlers of the M.L.L. and he teamed up with Joe Walters.  No doubt Walters and Prout will be looking to spark that chemistry they had.

Prouts main goal would be to make the Knighthawk roster to add depth to the right side.  Knowing how Prout is about being in game shape, he will be getting into top shape to show that he still has miles to go before hanging it up.

So the answer to the question of, Who will replace Powless?  It’s been answered in two parts.  The return of Jordan Hall, and the signing of Gavin Prout, a player that will bring leadership on and off the floor.

Kighthawk camp gets underway this weekend, November 22nd-23rd as they take the first steps to a possible 4 in a row. So veterans, rookies and free agents beware…Prout is coming.
