Coming off of the 2011 MLL Championship, no doubt the Boston Cannons were disappointed with their 2012 first round exit to the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Not to mention, it was the second playoff loss to the Bayhawks in the past three years.
Boston came back last season with a loaded roster, losing just Max Quinzani and Kip Turner as big pieces. They even added Bill McGlone and saw breakout seasons from Ari Sussman and Jake Beebee.
Protected Players of Note:
It’s obvious the Cannons will protect Paul Rabil, Matt Poskay and Jordan Burke among others. No need to really analyze those guys.
Chris Eck- After missing the playoffs with a knee injury, and the regular season finally, some questions began to arise regarding Chris Eck. However, after they traded John Ortonlani  to Rochester, it became clear that Eck is the guy for Boston.
Jon Hayes- Hayes contributed well to the Cannons in 2012, but he broke his foot after being hit by a shot against Denver. He will be back for 2013.
Martin Cahill- The Cannons got Cahill from Rochester for Brad Ross, and it’s easy to say they have not been the winner of that trade, at least not yet. Cahill did not produce a point for the Cannons, but he will be returning.
Unprotected Players of Note:
JJ Morrissey- This Massachusetts native was not protected after being a midfield stalwart for years with Boston. He will be retiring from pro lacrosse. They just got Brent Adams from the Bayhawks, so maybe he will be taking over that role.
