Meet An NLL Prospect: Bryan Campbell

Going into the NLL Draft weekend, many of the general managers had an idea who was on their watch list. With the combine being added this year, many wild cards emerged including Bryan Campbell who impressed many teams. The Brock University Badger stood out enough to be chosen by the Minnesota Swarm 42nd overall. Campbell would have a memorable birthday as he turned 21 on the night of his draft. The 21-year-old defensemen played his final junior season with the Oakville Buzz Jr.B while posting 14 points in 16 games. Campbell is very fast, tenacious defender that has a knack for loose balls. Campbell can use his speed to push the transition to create scoring opportunities for his team. Although Campbell was a late sleeper pick in the draft, Campbell’s athletic ability and work ethic could bring him in the running for a spot on the 2012 swarm roster.

Q: How does it feel to get drafted into the NLL?
A: To be honest the feeling it indescribable. There’s not many things in life that can match the feeling I got when I heard my name get called. A lot of things went through my mind; the up and downs of my career and how I battled through several adversities to get to the position I am in now. No greater feeling
Q: What do you think you can add to the Swarm?
A: I think I can add a little extra grittiness and speed to the back end. Also I love getting down and dirty to get every loose ball I can find.
Q: Would you tell future prospects to take part in the combine?
A: The combine gives players like myself who don’t have there name in the spotlight a chance to show there talents. I had a little bit of interest from a couple teams around the league but not enough to be drafted. Every chance I had when it came to the fitness tests, drills in practice or every shift in the scrimmage, I knew it was my one shot to make an impression and I can’t take advantage of this amazing opportunity. I gave nothing less than a 110%. My efforts throughout the whole day got the attention of the Swarm’s staff and got me drafted. My advice to future prospects to the league is to take full advantage of this opportunity the NLL is giving with the combine. It may give you the opportunity to be drafted like myself.
