MCLA Conference Preview: PCLL

December 11, 2013

Each week I am going to be breaking down different conferences within the MCLA and what will be expected within and from those conferences in the 2014 season. I will start this off with the PCLL, which consist of teams from the Northeast. In division one we have SUNY Buffalo, Northeastern, University of Connecticut, University of New Hampshire, University of Rhode Island, and last years champion Boston College. I believe…

Is Texas the Next Lacrosse Program?

When you think of division one college lacrosse you think Syracuse, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Duke, and Virginia. With the growth of the sport you also now think of teams like University of Michigan, Boston University, High Point, could you soon be thinking University of Texas? According to Chip Brown of orangebloods.com a University of Texas blog site then this is very possible in the near future. University of Texas has…

Is MLL in Florida a Good Thing?

November 13, 2013

Lacrosse in the sunshine state, sign me up! Major League Lacrosse should be moving to Florida for the 2014 season. The Hamilton Nationals would be moving to south Florida where an All-Star game was played. I believe this would be a good move for the MLL. When word first came out of the MLL moving to either Georgia or Florida I highly questioned the Georgia proposition, I do believe that…

Off Season Outlook: Colorado Mammoth

November 1, 2013

It has always been said that defense wins championships. Well, someone should inform the Colorado Mammoth of that. The Mammoth made it into the first round of playoffs last year with an unimpressive 7-9 mark to eventually lose to Calgary who has been the kryptonite that past couple of post seasons. Last year Colorado’s’ defense and goaltending was mediocre at best. Not at of it was necessarily their fault either….

How to Improve in 2014: Ohio State

October 27, 2013

How does a team who won their conference and had a great breakout year get better? Well, just by stealing two stand out transfers from opposing ECAC schools, most notably former Denver attackman Gordie Koerber who put on a good show in a recent fall ball scrimmage vs UNC. Ohio State will not return standout senior leader Logan Schuss who was drafted number one overall in the NLL entry draft….

Air Force Tops Notre Dame, Wraps Up Fall Ball

October 27, 2013

Can I first say WOW, did Notre Dame look good in the recent scrimmage vs. Air Force. AF ended getting the best of the Irish but the new Cascade Rs’ that the Irish were sporting were in my opinion one of the most attractive helmets on the field right now! Back to the game, AF came out hitting hard. They came with intensity, fire, and a plan to pick apart…

Hopkins Looking for More in 2014

October 11, 2013

Hopkins fans expected more last year, and were terribly let down. The Blue Jays missed the post season for the first time ever since the NCAA tournament was set up in 1971. Not only in the stands and couches at home but, also in the locker room, and coach’s offices there was a level of frustration that JHU has not dealt with before. With some big losses to Princeton, Albany,…

Where do Outlaws go Without Stagnitta?

October 1, 2013

Coach Stagnitta only held his position as the Head Coach of the Denver Outlaws for two years, but what a two years it was. The 2013 Outlaws were the first team in MLL history to post an undefeated regular season only to lose in the semi-final game of playoffs. Coach Stagnitta was named Coach of the Year this year due to his contribution to that undefeated season. In Stagnitta’s first…

ACC Still the Dominant Conference

June 2, 2013

The ACC in Men’s Lacrosse is often compared to the SEC of collegiate football. Nothing but the best. With the ACC holding teams such as Duke, North Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia only got better when they added Notre Dame, and Syracuse. Out of the 13 weeks the Coaches Poll was available, an ACC team held 1st place in 11 of them falling as low as second in the other two….
