The Barrie Blizzard announced Tuesday that their team’s coaching and management team has been modified.
Effective immediately, Rob Blasdell will focus his attention solely on the General Manager’s role. Blasdell’s wealth of experience is a valuable asset for the Blizzard having spent 11 years in the NLL as one of the league’s elite goaltenders, winning NLL Goaltender of the Year in 2002 as a member of the Albany Attack. Fellow NLL Veteran Brad MacArthur will step into the Blizzard’s Head Coach’s position.
Barrie resident Brad MacArthur was recently announced as the new Head Coach of the Jr. B Clarington Green Gaels as well as Team Israel as they head to the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in New York. As a player, MacArthur spent seven seasons in the NLL with Rochester, Montreal, Calgary, and Toronto
Joining Blasdell in the head office will be Sr. B Owen Sound North Star’s President/General Manager Randy Jackson, who will come in to assist the General Manager.
CLax representative Chris Newsome said “CLax thanks the many continued supporters of the Barrie team and applauds the additional efforts.”
Current Assistant Coaches Brian Beisel, Rich Marwick and former player Mike MacLeod will remain on the coaching staff in their current roles.
