The Baltimore Bombers of the North American Lacrosse League (NALL) opened the team’s 2013 season with training camp yesterday ay Myers Pavilion in Brooklyn Park. While only 27 players reported for camp, 33 members of the roster have signed contracts.
The teams tenured and most notable players have all signed: Goalie Ginny Capichionni (Sacred Heart); Player Coach Dan Marohl (UMBC); transition players Matt Alrich (Delaware) and Dan Deckelbaum (Delaware); and defensemen Damien Davis (Princeton) and Mike Simon (Stevenson). Both Towson Men’s Lacrosse coaches, Shawn Nadelen (Johns Hopkins) and Dan Cocchi (Towson), reported and signed as did Ben Rubeor, the MVP of MLL Championship Weekend for the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse.
“We had a good practice yesterday with a lot of intensity. The support of the players is a real indication of how excited we are to begin. Our fans will have a great chance to experience some of the best American box players our country has ever produced” said Bombers GM and Head Coach Hunter Francis.
Many other players are fitting well into the mix – Jordan Kenney (VA Wesleyan), Chris Boland (Johns Hopkins), and Matt Hickman (Salisbury) are active forwards, with Colton Vosburgh (Penn State) and Pete Cannon (Georgetown) strong in transition. Defensive stalwarts Josh Rachman, David Shortt (Loyola), and Jack Lingo (VA Wesleyan) are all expected to do heavy lifting in the coming months.
