Brandon Goodwin Out For Bandits

Some pretty bad news came out of the Buffalo Bandits camp today. According to Bandits reporter Budd Bailey, rookie forward Brandon Goodwin will miss the next two months with a knee injury.

Goodwin was a second round pick and the first player selected by the Bandits in the 2014 NLL draft. The team traded defender Rory Smith and goalie Eric Penney to the Vancouver Stealth in order to acquire the pick.

In ten games during his rookie season thus far, Goodwin has netted three goals and four assists for a points total of seven. The New Westminster native hasn’t been as a big of a part of the offense as maybe expected this season as Dhane Smith has stepped up and Ryan Benesch is having a career season.

Goodwin trails other rookie forwards in scoring such as Ben McIntosh, Miles Thompson, Eli McLaughlin, Mark Cockerton, and Shane MacDonald, all of whom were first round draft picks.

Taking Goodwin’s place on the roster could be rookie Tyler Ferriera who is a lefty forward on the practice roster. They also have rookie Jordan Dance available.
