The Oakville Buzz have a strangle hold on the Eastern Conference favourites as they are up 2-0 on the Green Gaels in round two.
The Oakville defense has held the powerful Green Gaels offense to just 12 goals in two games. Rookie netminder Jesse Legault has stepped up big in between the pipes for the Buzz while picking up two big victories including a 48 save performance in game one.
Legault was acquired from Mississauga after Buzz’s starting goalie Brent Noseworthy was sidelined with a lower body injury during a field lacrosse tournament with the Edge U-19 club.
Leading the way offensively for the Buzz in round two is rookie Pat Shea. The Oakville,ON native has found the back of the cage four times while adding four assists.
If the Green Gaels hope to keep their season alive the big offensive guns in Dylan Goddard, Luke Laskiewicz and company will need to find a way to break the athletic defense and solid goaltending of the Buzz.
Oakville will travel to Garnett. B Rickard this Thursday in hopes of sweeping the Green Gaels and advancing to Eastern Conference finals.
The Halton Hills Bulldogs find themselves in a hole early in the second round as they are down 2-0 to the Akwesasne Indians.
The Indians defense has done an outstanding job containing the Bulldogs offense as they have held them to just 11 goals in two games.
Offensively, the Indians have been lead by Hank Delisle in the second round. Delisle has recorded three goals and added four helpers for seven points in two games.
Luke Laidlaw has stepped up his game burying four goals in the two contests. Laidlaw will need some help up front if the Bulldogs want to keep their playoff hopes alive. Princeton Tiger Mike MacDonald was virtually unstoppable in the first round against the Kahnawake Hunters but has been held to just one goal in the second round thus far.
Halton Hills will look to complete the comeback starting this Friday as they host the Indians at Alcott Arena at 8 p.m.
