Canadian Lacrosse Notebook: May 24th

Last night the Victoria Shamrocks picked up their second win with a 10-7 victory over the New Westminster Salmonbellies. Victoria had 54 shots on goal while the ‘Bellies had 51.

Leading Victoria was Corey Small who had five points (3g, 2a) along with Scott Ranger with seven points and then Jeff Shattler picked up six. Matt Flindell made 44 saves. On the other side, Jordan McBride led New Westminster with five points and Niel Tyacke started in net and made 44 saves.

Tonight the Shamrocks look for their third straight win as they face the 1-0 Burnaby Lakers. The Shamrocks are tied for first place in the Western Lacrosse Association with the Langley Thunder.

The Peterborough Lakers opened up the Major Series Lacrosse schedule with a 14-4 win over the Brampton Excelsiors in front of one of the better crowds you will see in MSL all season (over 3,000).

Shawn Evans, coming off of an NLL MVP award, led the Lakers with 10 points. Jordan MacIntosh also added seven. The only scorers for Brampton were Mike Burke, Mark White, Jose Resetarits and Chriss Attwood.

In Jr A lacrosse in British Columbia, the Junior Thunder defeated the Junior Salmonbellies 13-9 while the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League saw a win from the Cornwall Island Redmenover the Snake Island Muskies 15-13.
