The Boston Cannons got back on track last night as they defeated the Charlotte Hounds 14-6 behind a terrific effort from their defense. The Cannons had lost two in a row to Denver and Rochester. The six goals allowed is the least they have allowed all season.
On the other end, the Hounds are now 1-3 and tied for the worst record in the league.
Boston went up 3-1 early in the first quarter and never looked back, holding a 8-3 halftime lead.
Paul Rabil continued his torrid pace with assists, picking up three more along with three goals to lead all scorers with six points. Ryan Boyle, Will Manny and Kevin Buchanan also produced three points each.
Jordan Burke made 10 saves on 16 shots on goal while rookie Austin Kaut out of Penn State also made his MLL debut with three minutes in net. However, he didn’t find any action.
Josh Hawkins and John Haus were the only Hounds with multiple points and it was two each. Mike Sawyer, Ryan Young and Joe Cummings combined for three points while Matt Danowski was out of the lineup.
The Cannons also dominated the faceoff dot with the return of Chris Eck who won 19 out of 24 faceoffs. Burke needs just two more wins to tie the Cannons all time wins record with 25, tying Chris Garrity.
Next week Boston travels to New York to face the Lizards and Charlotte travels to Denver to face the 4-0 Outlaws.
