Chiefs Down Brampton

The Six Nations Chiefs continued their outstanding start to the 2013 season as they downed the Brampton Excelsiors 13-7.

It was all Six Nations in the first period as they came out to a 4-0 start. Cody Jamieson and Marty Hill each scored a goal while Tom Montour added a pair of goals.

Brampton hit the floor flying as they opened the frame with three goals, bringing the Excelsiors within one goal. Todd Kozak, Mike Burke and Ryan Learn each potted a goal to make the score 4-3 in favour of the Chiefs.

A pair of tallies from Kasey Beirnes and Craig Point spread the Chiefs lead 6-3 with just over four minutes remaining in the second frame.

Milton,ON native Ethan O’Connor found the back of the cage to bring the Exels within two.
Burke netted his second goal to make the score 6-5 until Toronto Rock captain Colin Doyle buried with just over two minutes remaining in the second frame to give Six Nations a 7-5 lead.

The third period would once again be dominated by the Chiefs as they outscored Brampton 7-1 in the final frame making the final score 13-7.

Leading the way offensively for the Chiefs was Kitchener,ON native Doyle who added two goals and five assists for a team best 7 points. Jamieson and Montour also had solid outings as they each added four points in the Six Nations victory.

On the other side of the floor, Joe Resetarits posted three points (1G,2A) leading the way for Brampton.

Chiefs netminder Evan Kirk made 18 saves on 25 shots en route to picking up his fourth win of the season.

Peterborough native Ryan Masters made his season debut for the Exels while shutting down 35 of 48 shots while being charged with the loss.

Six Nations will head to Kitchener-Waterloo to take on the Kodiaks this Tuesday. Brampton will look for their second win of this season against the Brooklin Redmen this Wednesday at Iroquois Park Arena in Whitby, ON.
