Lakers Crush Rock

On Monday Night the Oakville Rock (1-3) hosted the Peterborough Lakers (3-3). The Lakers were looking to rebound after losing two of their last three while Oakville were looking for their second win of the season.

The Rock kicked off the scoring in this game as Russell Poulton scored just 59 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 Oakville. The Lakers though would come back strong as Brock Sorensen kicked off the scoring and then Shawn Evans would score a pair along with Mark Steenhuis scoring to make it 5-2 for Peterborough at the end of the first period.

In the second period the Lakers continued their strong play as Scott Evans and Josh Gilliam scored consecutively to extend the Lakers lead to 7-2. Oakville would claw back as Aj Masson scored to make it 7-3. Peterborough would add two more goals to end the period as the score was 9-4 after two periods of play. Peterborough would start the third period with three straight goals to extend their lead to 12-4. Oakville would keep fighting though as Dilan Gilbert scored to make it 12-5. Shawn Evans though would cap it for Peterborough by scoring his third goal of the night to give Peterborough the 13-5 victory.

The Lakers showed tonight that they are one of the top teams in the league and completely outclassed the Rock. The Lakers were led by the excellent play of Shawn Evans who had three goals and six assists for 9 points on the night.

The Lakers will next be in action on Thursday night as they will be facing off once again with the Oakville Rock.
