Church: Getting Drafted “Unreal Feeling”

Robert Church was the fifth overall pick in the NLL on Monday night as the Edmonton Rush selected him. Church goes one on one with us about his thoughts on joining the Rush organization.

Q: Thoughts on joining the Rush?

A: I am very excited on joining the Edmonton Rush.  I have played with a couple guys previously who are on the team now and I am excited to get on the floor with them again.  They have a great team on the verge of doing big things and I hope to do anything I can to help them take that next step.

Q: What do you think of the Rush organization?
A: They have a great organization from the owner down.  I had the opportunity to play against Coach Keenan in JR and his teams were very well coached.  It’s a top notch organization and I couldn’t be happier to be drafted by them.
Q: What was the feeling when you got drafted?
A.  It was an unreal feeling.  Ever since I started playing lacrosse competitively it has been a dream of mine to play in the NLL.  I grew up watching the Vancouver Ravens for a couple years while they were in Vancouver and always hoped I would have the opportunity to play in that league with the best lacrosse players in the world.
Q: What do you bring to the team?
A.  I think I can help offensively.  I am more of a pass first player but can adapt to play any role that the Rush have in mind for me.  I look forward to getting on the floor for training camp and doing everything I can to help the Edmonton Rush win games.
