On Saturday the Oshweken Demons will look to stay undefeated as they face the second last Barrie Blizzard. The Demons have been on fire thanks to the strong play of Chris Attwood and Wayne VanEvery while the Blizzard have been ice cold thanks to a lack of offense.
The Demons come into this game having already secured a playoff spot while the Blizzard will be trying to keep their playoff spot. The key for the Demons will be to get the ball in Attwood’s hands. Attwood was the player of the week in week 6 thanks to his 3 goals and 3 assists and he has proven if he gets the ball he can make the other team pay. The Demons will want to barrage Barrie’s goaltending with shots as all three of their goalies have struggle this season with all of them having goals against averages over 15.00. If the Demons can get a lead it will be smooth sailing as Barrie does not have the fire power to keep up.
The key for the Blizzard in this game will be their goaltending and defense. The Blizzard defense will need to step up and stop VanEvery and Attwood. If they can hold these two players off it will greatly increase their chances of winning. In net Barrie’s goal tending has to be better as they cannot allow over 15 goals a game and expect to win. Scott Komer will likely get the start and he will need to be able to make stops to keep his team in this game. On defense the Blizzard will need to limit the Demon’s shots on net and make them work for clean looks at the goalie. The Blizzard will need to clog up the shooting lanes and not allow the Demons to get high quality shots on net or else they will be in trouble. On offense Caleb Wiles an Travis Gibbons will need to find away to break through the Demons defense and create some offense. Wiles an Gibbons will be heavily defended all game so the Blizzard will need to their secondary scoring to step up as they will be able to find room with the Demons focusing on Wiles and Gibbons.
In the end Oshweken will win this game as they are the superior team in every aspect and should have no trouble dismantling the Blizzard.
