The National Lacrosse League has announced Player of the Week award winners for Week #4 of the 2013 NLL regular season, as seven games highlighted the busiest weekend on the schedule.
After two convincing wins on the road, the Calgary Roughnecks had three players, Shawn Evans, Geoff Snider and Mike Poulin, win the weekly award at their respective positions, while the Minnesota Swarm‘s Kiel Matisz won Rookie of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Shawn Evans, Calgary Roughnecks (2 GP, 6G, 13A, 12 LB): Evans recorded 13 points (4G, 9A) and five loose balls in Calgary’s 19-12 win at Colorado on Friday and six points (2G, 4A) and seven loose balls in Calgary’s 16-8 win at Philadelphia on Sunday.
Transition Player of the Week
Geoff Snider, Calgary Roughnecks(2 GP, 4G, 3A, 28 LB): Snider recorded three points (1G, 2A), 15 loose balls, and went 23-for-29 (79%) on faceoffs in Calgary’s 19-12 win at Colorado on Friday and four points (3G, 1A), 13 loose balls, and went 20-for-26 (77%) on faceoffs in Calgary’s 16-8 win at Philadelphia on Sunday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mike Poulin, Calgary Roughnecks (2GP, 2W, 10.00 GAA, .800 SV%): Poulin made 38 saves on 50 shots in Calgary’s 19-12 win at Colorado on Friday and made 42 saves on 50 shots in Calgary’s 16-8 win at Philadelphia on Sunday.
Kiel Matisz, Minnesota Swarm (2GP, 6G, 4A, 13 LB): Matisz recorded five points (3G, 2A) and eight loose balls in Minnesota’s 13-12 loss at Toronto on Friday and five points (3G, 2A) and five loose balls in Minnesota’s 15-14 win vs. Washington on Saturday.
The NLL Player Awards are determined by a weekly vote of the league’s general managers and head coaches.
