The Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team will host Marquette in a scrimmage on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 12 p.m., as announced today by Head Coach Andy Copelan. The Stags, who are also hosting a prospect day earlier that morning, will be collecting donations for the ProjectSpark Foundation. The Stags will also be wearing yellow shooting shirts and socks in recognition of ProjectSpark.

The ProjectSpark Foundation is dedicated to the eradication of Parkinson’s disease in our lifetime, and the amelioration of the effects of the disease for all those directly and indirectly affected by Parkinson’s. We seek to complement the efforts of other institutions focused on the disease by finding points of leverage where a “spark” will help to ignite the actions needed to unlock the cure.

“We look forward to welcoming Coach Amplo and his program to Fairfield University on October 18th,” said Copelan, the 2015 CAA Coach of the Year. “Pairing together these two Jesuit institutions at Rafferty Stadium – and supporting a great cause in ProjectSpark – will be a valuable experience for both teams and a great day of lacrosse.”

This past spring, Fairfield men’s lacrosse won the Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship in its first season as a member of the nationally-prominent conference. The Stags rose to No. 18 in the USILA poll, marking the fourth consecutive season that Copelan’s squad has earned a national ranking.

Marquette, which was ranked as high as No. 9 in the national polls during its 2015 campaign, posted a 10-6 final record last spring. The Stags and Golden Eagles have never met during the regular season.

Prior to the scrimmage, the Stags will host a prospect day at Rafferty Stadium.
