Guardian Sports today announced that Jason Rose (2018 Garnet Valley HS), Gunnar Marks (2019 Don Bosco Prep HS) and Jakob Katzen (2016 Wilmington Friends HS) are the first three recipients of the Frank Menschner Memorial Scholarship. The Frank Menschner Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Guardian Sports board member and fixture in the Philadelphia lacrosse community Frank W. Meschner. The scholarships will give aspiring lacrosse goalies the opportunity to compete at the Guardian National Championships and gain valuable exposure in front of Division I, II and III college coaches.
“Frank’s passion and dedication to our sport and steadfast support of the Philadelphia lacrosse community was unparalleled,” said Ginny Capicchioni, Guardian Sports, Founder/CEO. “Our intent for the scholarship is to preserve and honor Frank’s memory and pass on his love of lacrosse to the next generation of net minders. We hope by awarding these scholarships aspiring goalies will know have the opportunity to attend the Guardian National Championship and instill in others the love and dedication to our sport Frank showed throughout his career.”
The Guardian National Championship is the largest lacrosse goalie specific showcase that brings together elite high school goalies from across the country and gives them the stage to showcase their talents in front of numerous Division I, II and III college coaches. Goalies are evaluated in 16 goalie-specific tests in four key component areas; REACTIONARY, OFFENSIVE, ATHLETIC and VIRTUAL.
