Darris Kilgour announced earlier today that John Tavares will be placed on the Injured Reserve. The 22 year veteran was not at shootaround this morning and had been ruled out with a calf injury. He did not play last week either.
Replacing him on the active roster is transition man Jon Harasym who had been on the suspended list. Tavares will have to sit out for four weeks starting now after being placed on the IR. The team has a game off in two weeks so that will also count for time off. They play Rochester tonight and next week.
The Bandits head coach Kilgour said that rookies Kevin Brownell and Carter Bender will see action tonight with Tavares out. Bender was the Bandits first round draft pick this season and has not seen any time, to the surprise of many.
On the left side, Shawn Williams becomes the leader with Tavares out. They also have Mike Hominuck, Chad Culp, Nick Cotter and Bender coming from that side to replace the production from Tavares.
