Keogh, Knighthawks Prepare for Philadelphia

The defending champion Rochester Knighthawks are coming off of a strong win in Colorado against the Mammoth and this week will be hosting their rival Philadelphia Wings. In their win against Colorado, third year player Stephen Keogh led the ‘Hawks with five goals in the first half.

“It was a good win for us last week especially on the road in a tough building,” Keogh told us. “We came out strong but allowed them back into it in the second half. Colorado is a good team and they battled back hard but luckily Vino and the defence were able to shut the door at the end.”

This week the Knighthawks will take on the Wings this weekend as they try to move into first place in the Eastern Division. At 6-3, they trail the Buffalo Bandits by half a game.

“Philadelphia has a great team,” said Keogh about this week’s matchup. “They have two outstanding goaltenders. I think for us we need to focus on our game plan and playing a full 60 minutes.”
Over the past few seasons, even with their championship, Rochester has struggled at the start of the season. That is not the case this season as they are second in the division.“We have been getting solid play from our defence and goaltender,” Keogh said. “Our offence needs to step up and play a lot more consistent. We have had some bad quarters where we don’t put the ball in the net and allow teams back into games. We need to stick to the gameplay and execute the way the coaches want us to play.

“I think in this league, any team can win on any given night so I think it is important for us to stay the course on our game play and put together a full 60 minutes each night. I do not think we have played a full 60 minutes to our full potential so we need to fix the little mistakes and mental lapses.”
